Louver Doors Be Gone!

Why do they put these things in homes?  When we bought Oak Cottage every closet sported these louvered doors.  ugh!  We’ve now replaced all of them except 2—-and they are soon on the way out.  This is what our small closet in the office looked like before:

And here it is after we replaced the louvers with a fun curtain:

It has totally changed the look of the whole room—and it’s much easier to get into the closet.  What can you do with the louvered doors that you take down, you say?  Why not turn them into a great fence like this!

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:

1.  spring curtain rod to fit your closet opening {+ spray paint if your rod is not the finish your desire}

2.  curtain rings in desired finish—our’s are burnished bronze

3.  material for curtain  { 1.5 x the opening width measurement}

4. matching thread

5.  sewing machine

HERE’S HOW YA DO IT:

1.  If you cannot find a spring rod in the finish that you desire {unless you want white, chrome, or gold–you won’t} spray paint the rod.  We sprayed our white one with burnished bronze spray paint.

2.  Slide curtain rings onto the rod before putting it up and then tighten it.

3.  Sew your curtain—-once it is cut, just put a simple hem on all edges.

4. Hang your curtain with the curtain ring clips that you have put onto the rod at even intervals.

Voila!  A complete, easy closet makeover!  Now, get to work on that Shutter Fence with the old doors….. 🙂

  1. While I don’t hate those doors, I absolutely agree that they are a pain to get in and out of! Your fabric is gorgeous! I must see what you do with those old doors … jules

    • Kimberly~

      It is a wonderful linen—and is labeled “Design Legacy by Kelly O’Neal”. I hope that helps! I love it! There are several other B. E A. U. T. I. F. U. L. patterns in this line, as well. 🙂

Love to hear from you guys.......
