Newsprint Frames

As part of the living room redo I needed to consolidate pictures and frames.  Every tabletop in our home is covered in pictures—-we can’t get enough pics!  We buy new furniture to have somewhere else to put frames!  I shared with you the de-cluttering of this area {part of the living room area}:

In order to consolidate all of those pics on the bookcases we came up with the fun project I’m sharing with you today: Newspaper Frames.  I went to Michael’s during one of their great “All frames 40% off Week” and used an extra 25% coupon to get these lovely little numbers for a steal….

Here’s what you need:

1. Frames—any size

2.  Mod Podge

3.  Foam Brush

4.  Newspaper—magazines would work well, too, for a different look

5.  Scissors

Here’s how ya do it:

1.  Take the glass, backing, mat, etc. out of the frame so you are just left with the frame itself

2.  Cut strips of paper about 1-2″ wide and 4-5″ long {try to find fun parts of the paper–maybe words/phrases that you like….not stuff like “Bessie Found Dead in Swamp” or “Poot Root Beer On Sale”—-unless you like those kinds of things. If so, by all means go for it!}

3.  Work in small sections covering with Mod Podge {this is messy}

4.  Lay paper strips on —- don’t worry about wrinkles, they add character

5.  Continue until the whole frame is covered and then hang in your yard as yard art until they are dry {a few hours}  You could also hang them somewhere in your house; but the yard is so much more fun—it’s great to see the reaction when people see frames hanging all over your yard.  Be sure to do this when your neighbors are having a large party.  You don’t want to miss the fun. 🙂  *Bwahhahahahah*

6.  Put your pics in and find a wonderful spot! {So sorry for the grainy pics–there are a couple of spots in my house that it is almost impossible to take a good picture! ugh!}

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
