I am a nut for fragrances. They can be natural or not. I love the smell of a wood fire, a pine forest, and flowers—-I also love Coco Chanel, Yankee Candles, Shower Gels, powders………and, of course, a great pot pourri.
As I have had fun getting out my favorite fall fragrant candles and pot pourri—it had me thinking of the true fragrance of our home. What is it? Is it hurried busy-ness, discontentment–lacking peace? Does my family feel like our home is a soft place to land–or one with prickles? Are people ministered to in a warm place here, or is it cold and uninviting? Does my family and those that visit feel the love when they are here? What is the TRUE fragrance of our cottage here in the oaks? This fragrance is created by our priorities, the words spoken, the attitudes, the treatment of each other, and what we choose to hold dear. It is far more powerful than any candle, pot pourri, or room spray—-and cannot be masked with any of these either.
Today I hope to inspire you to ponder what fragrances your home—the TRUE fragrance. As you light candles or put out pot pourri—-let it be a reminder to keep a check on that fragrance.
This fall I have discovered a new candle that I have been enjoying for fall…..at Bath & Body Works. It’s called Creamy Pumpkin.
