Autumn Inspiration {Day 31} ::: Go Somewhere!

Just got home from a 1 week road trip!  So fun!  Looking back over what we did over the past week….WOW!  We covered a lot of ground.

We left NC and headed to Charlottesville, VA and spent most of the day at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.  Being a huge history lover….it was so fun.

Then, we spent the rest of the day until after sunset riding along Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah Mountain/Valley region.  {It’s much like the Blue Ridge Parkway here in NC.}

The next day we spent the day at Luray Caverns…..awe-inspiring place.  After spending 1/2 a day underground in caverns, we hit some corn mazes, garden mazes, farm stands, and antique stores.

Next we headed to Harpers Ferry, WV—another wonderful place full of history.  I had no idea that it was a neat little town–where two rivers meet.  I was aware of the significance regarding the Civil War, but had no idea it was such a neat mountain village.

The next day we spent in Gettysburg, PA.  Absolutely beautiful area.  The Gettysburg Battleground is a special place to experience–and absolutely gorgeous. Most of our day was spent at the battlefield.

Next we headed to Lancaster, PAAmish country.  And we were hit with a huge snowstorm! Almost 10 inches!  It was beautiful—not fun to drive in; but still a treat to be in.  We went from beautiful autumn color–to a complete white-out! We enjoyed our time in Amish country–touring through the countryside, the wonderful food, and the snow! 🙂

On our way home we stopped at Old Luckett’s Store in Leesburg, VA.  {If you read Miss Mustard Seed’s blog you are very familiar with this place!  She has a store there.}  It was such a treat!  I could have spent the whole day there—-but after a few hours, tore myself away.  As soon as we walked in—my kids said, “Mom!  This could be yours!  It looks just like you!”  If you are ever in Northern VA, be sure to visit.

And last, but not least, we stopped by IKEA in Woodbridge, VA.  Handsome had never been to an IKEA—and I thought that was a horrible deprivation.  So, we stopped.

I’ll share some great pics over the next weeks.

Today is the last day of the 31 Days series….and I am glad! Yep, I mustn’t tell a lie.  I  probably would have shared mostly autumn stuff, anyway…..but there are so many other things I’ve wanted to share, and it hasn’t fit into the 31 Days thingy.  But I made it! 🙂

Today I hope to inspire you to GO SOMEWHERE this autumn.  Anywhere. {No, the grocery store doesn’t count.}  I mean out of town.  Even if it just for the day—go explore somewhere you have never been.  Create a new autumn memory. Go. Do it. You’ll be so glad.

Happy Monday~
