Cinnamon Scones

We like to have fun breakfasts on Saturdays, and it has been a while

since I tried something new… was overdue.

There’s something about Saturday…you need a laid-back morning

with a fun treat for breakfast.

This past Saturday I made Cinnamon Scones for breakfast…..

and they were a hit with everyone.

I thought I’d share the simple recipe with you.

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/3 cup sugar

5 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon {I used more! Your taste……}

2 sticks butter

3/4 cup heavy cream

1 whole egg

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1 cup cinnamon chips {I get mine from King Arthur Flour}

For the topping:

1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon {I use more!}

1-1/2 tsp. heavy cream

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a bowl mix together the first four ingredients. Cut the butter in pieces and cut into the dry ingredients with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture is crumbly. Stir in the cinnamon chips. In another bowl mix together the cream, egg, and vanilla extract and then pour it over the flour/butter mixture. Stir gently with a fork to combine.

Turn the mixture out onto a work surface {I actually did it right on my baking pan} and press together—-it will be crumbly. Flatten out and shape into a circle or rectangle. Mix the topping ingredients together and pour over your flattened out mixture—pressing the topping into the dough.

Cut into wedges before baking. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Allow to cool completely before serving.

I love King Arthur Flour….and use many of their products. If you enjoy cooking and especially baking you will love their stuff! You may be able to find cinnamon chips at a local store, but since I already order so much from KAF I get mine from them. You can have lots of fun with cinnamon chips! 🙂 Check out their site and order a free catalog. They also have a TON of great recipes on their site!

{King Arthur Flour has no idea who I am….I just like their stuff and wanted to share it with you!}
