“Is this the little girl I caaaaarrrrrrrriiiiiiieeeeeeeddddd?
When did she grow to be soooo taaaaaaaallllllllll?”
{Oh dear….I’m still at it. I woke up this morning with the whole
Fiddler on the Roof score running through my head.}
This week my youngest has a birthday…
so that particular song is very appropriate.
I performed Fiddler on the Roof at many different stages
in my life…as a little girl, again as a teenager, and then
with a professional company in my twenties….
so, it holds a special place in my heart.
If you’ve never seen it….go get it. It will make
me feel so much better.
OK…back to what I was originally writing about……
Since my daughter’s birthday falls so close to Easter she decided to
have her celebration with friends this past weekend.
I thought I would share what we did….it was so fun,
and it would be a fun way to bless your kids or spouse.
We had a fun shopping afternoon, trip to the movies,
and then a sleepover. A great girls night!
BUT, Handsome and I surprised the girls
in the morning with Room Service!
I think they loved it. 🙂
{They had no idea…and were so surprised.}
We brought in our bistro set from the yard,
got out the starched white tablecloth……
and after they woke up we set it up in my daughter’s bedroom
and served them a fun breakfast of Belgian waffles,
eggs, bacon, and juice. They felt so special….
and had so much fun.
Here’s some pics of how it went down……
Our family LOVES Belgian waffles….
We made a tiny vase of flowers for each girl.
Used our vintage hotel silver for serving…
{how convenient that it’s something I collect!
BUT, certainly not necessary to carry this out.}
Each girl had their own individual syrup
and fun place setting with little decorations
and artwork from Mary Engelbreit.
It was lots of fun to bless and surprise our
little not-so-little anymore one.
So fun and simple…..
but I think it created a great memory;
and maybe something that will be fun
to do again sometime.
How fun would this be for an anniversary
breakfast…to surprise your spouse;
or when a family member or friend
comes for an out of town visit.
And then, if you need to…..
when you see this you can sit down
and have a good cry.
But it’s so worth it.
Can’t wait to do it again!

Thanks, Shiloh! I hope they do!
*LOVE* this idea so much. I am always on the look out for new ideas/ways to treat my family and friends for special occasions. This is so charming and really it worked bc your execution was so nicely done. Your setup made it look like hotel room service. Darling!
Thanks so much for sharing.
