Family Celebrations……

We love to have celebrations….of all kinds and all sizes.

Just a few short weeks ago was my Mom’s birthday, and we had a little birthday dinner party for her here at our cottage. We had a birthday lunch for my Dad back in January….you can read about that one here.}

Her favorite meal is grilled steak, baked potato, salad, homemade rye bread, and dessert…..so, that’s what we had!

It was the perfect evening….a lovely spring breeze blew through the dining room windows….

I love having fun setting the table….we’re not into ‘hurry up meals’ {although sometimes they are a necessity!}, and it’s nice to set a lovely table and linger over the table while enjoying those you are sharing it with…..

For my Mom’s Birthday Dinner Party we used vintage ironstone and vintage hotel silver…two of my favorite things that I collect!

 I love these mini bread boards that are made by Vintage Home Designs…..we have purchased several sets and use them all the time!

 We use our Vintage Mini French Cafe Chalkboard all over the house….but it’s really fun to use for special celebrations….for the menu, or a fun message….what fun items are your favorites to use for family celebrations?

We also like to have impromptu celebrations with just us…..each Sunday evening is Family Night here at our home……and we had fun for the night of the Oscars having our very own family Oscar party. {Excuse the bad pics….it was dark/candlelight when I took them.}

We quickly made printed paper Oscar napkin rings, Oscar Bingo Cards, and voting ballots. Whomever won each category got a special treat…..dinner or lunch out with Mom or Dad! 🙂

We had a gourmet dinner of McDonald’s cheeseburgers cut into bite-sized pieces and put into a basket; as well as fries. ha!

What kind of celebrations do you like to have…..or attend?

Celebrating everyday~

  1. I love your pretty table! Those bread boards are so unique. Love your chargers and napkin rings. Oh, that Pottery Barn, they entice us every season. Those are timeless though. Your family will remember these special times. Mine still talk about our family movie nights – so much fun with taking turns on choosing the menu and the movie.

  2. Can I come join your family celebrations? 🙂 You have so many beautiful pieces and I absolutely love the chargers and napkin rings. It all just makes everything so special. Thanks so much for sharing this at Inspiration Friday!

  4. Hello, lovely tablesetting to celebrate your mother’s birthday – love the napkin rings. It is wonderful to linger over a meal to enjoy the family’s company – your Oscar Night theme is fantastic – very clever! I appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
