It’s My Birthday…..

Today I am turning 46….

I plan to rock it!

Off celebrating~

Preparing & Celebrating…..

You guys are such a blessing! Thank you for your notes, comments, and e-mails about the loss of my grandmother last week. They were all sweet ministry to me. It has been quite a week…..but God has seen us all through and is pushing us into a new season.

This past weekend we got to celebrate this lovely ‘little girl’……

{She’s always been my ‘hat buddy’….we both love hats!}

who now looks like this…….

and turned 15 yesterday! She blesses us each and every day and we had fun celebrating our middle one over the weekend. She is a treasure. Today we are headed out to get

THE PERMIT! {Prayers are very welcome…..}

She’s so excited. Just another facet of this new season.

We are also preparing to head down to Atlanta to see Nanna & Papa…always a fun trip. We will get to go to some fun places and have some fun adventures.  I’m excited about all of them…but I think I am MOST excited about The Country Living Fair!

I’ve always wanted to go, and it was such a fun surprise to find out we would get to be there this year.  Have any of you ever attended?  If so, be sure to let me know some ‘not-to-misses’, etc. 🙂 It will be nice to get away for a bit.

I will be sure to share pictures and tell you all about it when we return.

Hope you week is off to a great start~

The Girl After My Own Heart…….

Twelve years ago she appeared.

Strength incarnate….

Her full name means ‘Victorious Wise One’

And she lives it out daily.

Less than a minute old and she pushed up

on those strong little arms and looked deeply into my eyes.

She had been wondering what I looked like….

and I her. She had things to do, and was ready to get on with it!

She has always been full of wonder

and loves to learn.

Her smile has always lit up the room wherever she went.

She loves hanging with her Daddy…..blowing dandelions and hunting for clover.

and having adventures with her Mom.

She is a girl after my own heart.

She teaches me so much.

We love to have fun adventures like going to the vintage

clothes store and trying on all the clothes.

Taking NYC by storm.

Oh, how she loves NYC!

And I love sharing this special place in my heart with her.

Something goes wrong?

She has perfected the “Who Me?”

She is the apple of her brother’s eye…

and they love to perform together.

Sisters…iron sharpens iron.

These two are best buds and sharpeners all in one!

A powerful duo.

She is a born leader….and is headed for great things.

{With a flair, of course!}

Forever the entertainer….

she keeps everyone in stitches.

Why she has loved to always put crazy things on her head….

we have yet to figure out.

She runs the race that is set before her

with grace, perseverance, and integrity.

She loves animals and people.

And thrives when surrounded by both.

She loves caring for them.

She is loving, kind, strong,

diligent, hard-working, entertaining,

creative, super talented, and beautiful inside and out….

She is an incredible writer.

She wrote a short novel when she was only 6!

I love this picture of her…

feeding sheep.

It speaks so much about my youngest.

On a daily basis she truly does

feed sheep…whichever ones cross her path.

And today is her birthday.

Happy Birthday, girl after my own heart.

I am so glad to be gifted with you!

My Heart to You~

Room Service Birthday…..

“Is this the little girl I caaaaarrrrrrrriiiiiiieeeeeeeddddd?

When did she grow to be soooo taaaaaaaallllllllll?”

{Oh dear….I’m still at it. I woke up this morning with the whole

 Fiddler on the Roof score running through my head.}

This week my youngest has a birthday…

so that particular song is very appropriate.

I performed Fiddler on the Roof at many different stages

in my life…as a little girl, again as a teenager, and then

with a professional company in my twenties….

so, it holds a special place in my heart.

If you’ve never seen it….go get it. It will make

me feel so much better.

OK…back to what I was originally writing about……

Since my daughter’s birthday falls so close to Easter she decided to

have her celebration with friends this past weekend.

I thought I would share what we did….it was so fun,

and it would be a fun way to bless your kids or spouse.

We had a fun shopping afternoon, trip to the movies,

and then a sleepover.  A great girls night!

BUT, Handsome and I surprised the girls

in the morning with Room Service!

I think they loved it. 🙂

{They had no idea…and were so surprised.}

We brought in our bistro set from the yard,

got out the starched white tablecloth……

and after they woke up we set it up in my daughter’s bedroom

and served them a fun breakfast of Belgian waffles,

eggs, bacon, and juice. They felt so special….

and had so much fun.

Here’s some pics of how it went down……

Our family LOVES Belgian waffles….

We made a tiny vase of flowers for each girl.

Used our vintage hotel silver for serving…

{how convenient that it’s something I collect!

BUT, certainly not necessary to carry this out.}

Each girl had their own individual syrup

and fun place setting with little decorations

and artwork from Mary Engelbreit.

It was lots of fun to bless and surprise our

little not-so-little anymore one.

So fun and simple…..

but I think it created a great memory;

and maybe something that will be fun

to do again sometime.

How fun would this be for an anniversary

breakfast…to surprise your spouse;

or when a family member or friend

comes for an out of town visit.

And then, if you need to…..

when you see this you can sit down

and have a good cry.

But it’s so worth it.

Can’t wait to do it again!

I think it’s a personal record.}

Have a super day~

A Celebration

A couple of weeks ago we had a 70th Birthday Party for my dad

here at our cottage. It was a special day.

To celebrate someone that has always cared and nurtured me,

quietly guided me, and been patient with me was an honor.

Here’s a little peak at the day……

I love how the sun comes into our dining room around lunch time…..

A while ago I began collecting antique silver,

and I love this charger ……

And this antique hotel silver salt and pepper server.

And the napkin rings that say “Friends and Family”

We enjoy our French cafe sidewalk chalkboards/signs….

the large one that Handsome made on the front porch,

and this tabletop one that he made

{now available in our etsy shop}

For the party we wrote:

“Count your age in Friends, not years.”

And another one with Happy Birthday…

After a lunch of Chicken Tortilla Soup, homemade bread, fruit tea,

and homemade mini apple pie pockets {my dad’s favorite}

we enjoyed the rest of our time in front of

a warm fire….watching him open presents,

and having great fellowship with his friends and family.

A sign of much fun had:

Memory-making is so fun~

Today….I’m Searching for a Word!

I’ve been thinking for a while about what my word for 2012 will be.

I usually have a phrase….but for this year, I need one word.

I’ll be honest….

it has been a crazy, hard few years.

Honestly…at the end of 2011 I was pondering my one word for the New Year;

and you want to know what I came up with?

Yep. That was it.

I’m by no means a negative person….

but that was the only word that came to me when I thought of another year.

That’s bad.

I’m ashamed.

I know that is NOT the word that God has for me for 2012.

So, I’m still praying…and wondering what the word for

my 2012 needs to be.

Here’s some of my list:

Abandon Ship! {that won’t work….2 words, and fits right up there w/ Ugh.}

Perseverence {that one makes me tired}

Undiluted Hope {mmm, that’s good…but 2 words…I’m too wordy}

Courage {it’s getting better}

Nestle {this one keeps coming up}

Help! {accurate..but not encouraging}

Joy {that’s good, too…but not the one}

Abide {now it’s getting better}

Celebrate {now THAT’S my kind of word!}

Deflated {oops…nope, right back there with Ugh}

Wait {Oh no! not THAT one!}

Well, I still haven’t found it. Do you have a word of this year?  Since I was around 10 I have always had a phrase for the year.  This one is hard!  If you have a word for this year….I’d love to hear about it.  As soon as I know what my word is….I’ll let you know.

Yesterday was my birthday…and I had so many wonderful wishes poured my way. I was whisked off on a fun day adventure on Saturday, and yesterday kept coming home to gifts waiting at the door.  I am truly blessed in the best kind of way. 🙂

Today I am thankful for:

~ people that truly know me

~ surprises around every corner

~ new discoveries

~ cookie cakes w/ extra icing!

~ unmerited favor

~ a fantabulous family

~ a fresh new year..full of possibilities

Happy Monday~

PS  None of my media would load today…, I have no pics for this post!  Horrors!
