Winter Scenes and Ponderings…….

I wanted to share these beautiful winter images with you…just for your weekend. We don’t get a lot of snow here in Eastern NC….and we are expected to get some today! Woohoo! Even if it is only slush….I will have fun enjoying the view. Snow is such a great insulator….you feel like you are in another world and there is so much peace and quiet. Everything slows down and it seems your senses are heightened.

Eye beauty……

Something to ponder for your weekend, too. When Handsome and I were praying about the new year approaching and making decisions about directions we desired to go with businesses, etc. …..the hardest thing to figure out is:

When do you persevere and continue to strive and hang on…..

and when do you know it’s time to let go, regroup, and move on?

How do YOU know?

Sometimes that still, small voice is SO still and small…’s more like a squeak. So, how do you KNOW?  =) We finally got it….but it was hard.

Something to ponder for a cozy, winter weekend……

Stay warm~

Couldn’t leave you without a fun chuckle….this is SO me:

Ever Wonder Friday {No. 9}

I hope you are off to a wonderful weekend…full of refreshment!

1.  What makes something beautiful?

2.  Is it really always better to be safe than sorry?

3. How do you find happiness?

4.  Where do you draw the line between possible and impossible?

5. Do you love everybody you love?

Sending you a virtual cup of cider……..

Preparing & Celebrating…..

You guys are such a blessing! Thank you for your notes, comments, and e-mails about the loss of my grandmother last week. They were all sweet ministry to me. It has been quite a week…..but God has seen us all through and is pushing us into a new season.

This past weekend we got to celebrate this lovely ‘little girl’……

{She’s always been my ‘hat buddy’….we both love hats!}

who now looks like this…….

and turned 15 yesterday! She blesses us each and every day and we had fun celebrating our middle one over the weekend. She is a treasure. Today we are headed out to get

THE PERMIT! {Prayers are very welcome…..}

She’s so excited. Just another facet of this new season.

We are also preparing to head down to Atlanta to see Nanna & Papa…always a fun trip. We will get to go to some fun places and have some fun adventures.  I’m excited about all of them…but I think I am MOST excited about The Country Living Fair!

I’ve always wanted to go, and it was such a fun surprise to find out we would get to be there this year.  Have any of you ever attended?  If so, be sure to let me know some ‘not-to-misses’, etc. 🙂 It will be nice to get away for a bit.

I will be sure to share pictures and tell you all about it when we return.

Hope you week is off to a great start~

Ever Wonder Friday {No. 6}

1.  When will you ever have more time than you do right now?

2.  What are the five things you value most in life?

3. Do you treat love as a noun or a verb?

4. What is the one thing that you think of that always makes you smile?

5. Can you really be brave if you’ve only had wonderful things happen to you?

I hope you weekend is full of autumn!

Ever Wonder Friday {1}

I love creative questions. I enjoy asking others questions to get to know them and their story. I also like to ask myself questions to ponder…there’s always more we can learn about ourselves, too.

I thought it would be fun this fall to have “Ever Wonder Fridays”. Each Friday I will ask 5 questions that can be pondered over the weekend. 🙂 Some might be deep, and some might make you laugh. You can also get a glimpse into the crazy things I wonder about in the deep recesses of my mind. {Bwahahahahahahha!} If you are still here after this fall I will know that you are not easily scared. 😉 I’m pulling these questions from my art journal over the  years. Some I just asked myself…and others were questions that someone else had asked me.

I challenge you to ask these questions….and live into the answers.

creative questions to ponder

This week’s questions:

1.  When was the last time you did something for the first time?

2.  What do you want from life?

3.  In order to find yourself, are you willing to lose yourself?

4. If you think life is hard, what are you comparing it to?

5. What do you pack to pursue a dream, and what do you leave behind?

Pondering along with you~

Saying Good-Bye to Summer…..

Today is the last day of summer.

saying good-bye to summer

To me September 1st is the official first day of autumn….and I am so happy!  I love autumn and I am ready to welcome it in.  We’ve had a wonderful summer…..filled with fun and great memories and mile markers.  I’m ready to move into the next season.

Tonight is the full Blue Moon….I hope that wherever you live it will not be cloudy and you can go outside to check it out. I have a habit of going outside each night before turning in to walk down our garden paths and check on the moon and the stars. It puts things in perspective to me….whatever might be weighing on my mind or heart….the One who made the moon and stars has already got it covered. I can lay down and rest.

We are headed to some friends’ house for dinner and then to Busch Gardens this weekend…what are you doing fun this weekend?  Relaxing at home? Having a barbecue? Taking a quick trip? Visiting family or friends? It all sounds fun to me!

Whatever you do this weekend….I hope it nourishes your soul and refreshes your body.

Happy Weekend~

Back to School Dinner……

This weekend we had our family’s annual Back to School Dinner Celebration.  It was so fun….and I try to surprise everyone each year with something a little different.

Last year we had to eat leftover salad in the dark because we had an extra dinner guest…..the 150 foot oak tree that was on the house! ha! We still had fun, though. Here’s the link to the post about last year’s dinner celebration.

This year we had electricity! We hung paper airplanes in the doorways, and from the dining room light fixture.

We decorated the table with all kinds of school supplies vintage and new……

Everyone received coupons and fun little treats to start the year off…..

and we finished the dinner up with homemade whoopie pies!

This is also the night each year that we sign home school contracts for the year. 🙂 {We  always have a contract listing necessary commitment, expectations, and any consequences of not meeting them.}

Do you celebrate going back to school in any way? Does your family have any neat traditions for starting the school off in a fun way?

Through the Storms…..

For your weekend I wanted to share an amazing picture with you. I just love it.  It was sent to me and I don’t know who the photographer is or how to credit it. {If it is you or you know who to credit..please let me know.}

Psalm 91:4

It reminds me of Psalm 91:4…..

“He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”

We don’t need to fear about tomorrow…because God is already there. Storms may be raging, but we are tucked up under His wing.

I don’t know about you…but I need to be reminded of that. Often.

I have times of feeling like I’ve fallen off the branch, and I’m flailing toward the ground.

But I’m not…it’s just the wind blowing around me. I just need to sit tight.

Anyone else need to be reminded of this?
