Front Door Done!

Well, at leasts the INSIDE of the front door!  This was another dark hole in our living room area—-SO, last week I took about 30 minutes and brightened it up!

I made it off the scaffolding!  The Tall Wall is painted and looks great—-I feel like things are starting to transform.  Today I’m on a 20 foot ladder pasting the vintage book pages on the fireplace wall.  {Weird—the ladder feels safer than the scaffolding. ?????}

Anyhoo…..Here’s the outcome of the door…….

It is so easy to distress an item.  If it is something you would like to try:

You will need:

~ paint – the color you desire {I love Annie Sloan Chalk Paint}

~ brush

~ sand paper – or an electric sander if it is a big project

~ wax, polyurethane—if you so desire

Quick Directions:

For a simple project……

1. With just a small amount of paint on your brush—paint your object

2.  Continue to paint until you have achieved the look you’d like.  For the door I painted I used the ‘one coat’ look.  Make it opaque if you’d like a more ‘covered’ look.

3.  On edges, corners, large flat areas begin to sand until you have the desired look that you want. {More or less worn}  When trying to decide where to sand:  think about the areas that would receive the most wear, tear, scraping, bumping, etc. over time.

4.  You can seal with wax {a great finish and look!}, leave as is, or seal with a flat polyurethane.

Heading up the ladder……….another day by the ceiling!

    • It’s actually white—-but that is spot in our home that is so hard to photograph. The flash looks awful, but then, without the flash you can not see very well. ugh. The whole door is white. 🙂

Love to hear from you guys.......
